Why is the 'Cut' option always greyed out in Lion?
I've noticed many times now that the 'Cut' (like copy and paste) feature always seems to be greyed out. Is there a reason for that?
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7)

Just btw, I'm not suggesting that the copy and paste functions are also greyed out, I was just making clear which 'cut' feature I was talking about.
Hmmm interesting. I didn't notice that~~ but I'm sure the cut function is still working because I still can use it on my Apple Mail.
I usually do copy & paste or cut & paste using shortcut....
Such as command + X then command + V
or
command + C then command + V
I just realized that when you copy and paste something in Lion, it actually does a cut and paste (I think). You can see that this is the case by copying something to a different location and then deleting the original (preferably empty the trash as well). The original will also be gone. The annoying thing is that even though this is a cut-paste, the original does not disappear from its position. That also explains how the copying is so much faster, since cutting and pasting just takes a pointer switch.

Cheers!
If you want to move files in the Finder, you can now Copy (Cmd+C) and Move Item (Cmd+Option+V) in Lion. This is the same functionality as Windows Cut & Paste in the Explorer.
