failure to sync photos to ipad

I have upgraded to ipad 4.3.5 and itunes 10.4.0.80 and I'm trying to sync 170 videos on to my ipad. These are all short, less than 2mb and generally less than 1mb and are in .m4v format. If I just have one or two of them in my nominated download/ sync folder then it syncs ok. Any more than that and itunes displays a message saying optimizing photos for about 20seconds and then windows displays a message saying itunes has stopped working and will be shut down. I'm running Windows 7 professional on a desktop PC.

Any ideas appreciated

I have exactly the same issue but with Windows Vista and an iPhone 4 (V4.3.5 (8L1) - it seems to syns but crashes when optimising photos - I have uninstalled EVERYTHING Apple and re-installd but to my dismay, the problem is still there...

I've given up on itunes and downloaded an app called simpltransfer from the app store - works great with no issues. I think the full version is $2.59.
