Brand New battery holds only 2 hrs. MBP 5,1 15"

I've calibrated, I've taken out the battery and held down power, I've unplugged everything but the ethernet cord, turned keyboard lights all the way to 0, turned display to mid brightness, quit applications... basically made my computer useless and all I have is:

notice the time, this is basically with nothing running but the os. (checked in activity monitor before unplugging)

see how I only have 97% after battery is done calculating? and it only says 2:31hrs! again notice the time

and lastley this is what it looked like when I open up chrome and I'm on the login screen for apple support. looks like i've lost over an hour in 4 min!

Could it be because I have 8gb RAM? however I only have 2.17gb being used while performing the last part of the this test.

Ok looks normal.

I hate to say it, but after 2 years, if you've only done 14 cycles, that's probably the reason it's not working as well as it should.

Not using the battery can be quite damaging. Especially if it's full most of that time. Note storage instructions call for 50%.

But let's have a look at the design capacity out of curiosity.

In Terminal copy / paste this command & post the results:

ioreg -w0 -l | grep Capacity

I feel like I'm repeating myself here, this is a brand new battery as it says in the subject of this thread. That's why there are only 14 power cycles.

But it's an AASP, which means they buy genuine parts from Apple?

Perhaps the battery is, a genuine part?

I would have thought Apple would have a record of that.

AASP's have to comply with certain things I thought.

And you should have buyer protection laws in your country concerning warranties of goods. Surely they should be replacing this battery under the law?

Well, proof of purchase.

Is there any way you can prove they replaced the battery?

Perhaps they placed one of their own stickers on the battery?

Or since they are an AASP, I wonder if they put notes on Apples system under the serial number like Apple do?

Also, I guess antoher idea is:

I know AASP's are benchmarked on how quickly they get the replaced items back to Apple once they are delivered. I wonder if the batteries in any way connected / share serial numbers with your MBP?
