Reset server password/setup PLEASE HELP!!

I have the same problem... Server Admin was working last time I used it, now I can't log in. Password was from the keychain so I know it was correct.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try going to Mac System Preferences/Users&Groups. Can you unlock the preferences and change the password?

Sure thing... My account (which is an admin account) is working fine. I just can't use it to login to the Server manager.

I also tried creating a new account with admin privs - while I could log into the account for general use, I could not get into the server manager with the new account either.

Is server admin working? Is DNS set up correctly?

I am having the exact same problem. I can get to the account and use the computer, however when I try to launch Server manager, it refuses my password. I know the password is correct. I may not have been smart in using system preferences instead of Server manager to create accounts.

How can we reset the admin password ?

Same problem... I tried booting into the recover partition and reseting the admin account password (terminal resetpassword) but I still can't get server.app to connect locally (or remotely) to my server.

Same problem as the others. I have a 2 week old Mac Mini and arrived at this point after I'd followed the Hoffman Labs (http://labs.hoffmanlabs.com/node/1436) DNS setup and not being able to get past the "Available Servers (0)" problem rported elsewhere and then a subsequent new system restore. I also can't get past the:

sudo changeip -checkhostname

Current HostName = server.local

The DNS hostname is not available, please repair DNS and re-run this tool.

I feel I'm at the point of an erase and clean install.

Woohoo! Have a fix from the guys over at the Apple Discussion board.
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.servermgrd.plist
Apparently, after first install the service can die.

Hi, thought I was going mad before Ifound your post - thanks a lot! Only problem is that when I then go back into Server there a now loads of Users and Groups that I never put there (I assume they are Apple service names of some sort but I don't know much about it). Can I turn these back off so I just see what a standard Server administrator would see?

Wev - Open Server.app go to top menu View > Show/Hide System Accounts.
