Apparently my voice recorder that came as a pre-installed app is gone. I just noticed that it was missing when I went to record a lecture I was in.
CAn anyone tell me how to recover this app? The free on I saw in the app store that "looks" similar states that it is unavailable

Thanks, but it sounds like I need to takes trip to the genius bar. I already restored my phone, per the instructions from the geniuses when my screen was still on when my phone was up to my face , causing me to mute calls, hang up, etc.
Voice Recordings is a built in app, and cannot be deleted.
Use Spotlight to search for it, if it does not come up then the phone is misbehaving, and some settings need to be reset.
Start by restarting the phone, hold the Sleep/Wake button until you get slide to power off and slide.
If it is still missing after restarting try resetting: Hold the Sleep/Wake button as well as the Home button, ignore the "Slide to power off" and keep holding until you get an Apple logo.
If it is still missing go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.
If it still missing you will need to restore your phone.

If you have any folders on one of your home screens, like inside of them. It may have accidentally been moved.
A recent iOs update put a uilities folder on ther first home page with Voice memos, Compass, Notes, Clock and Calculator. Look there unless you moved it.
