how to activate airdrop

Correct, AirDrop *only* works over WiFi and only with Mac with the latest AirPort chipsets I don't have the list to hand but if you search on here you will find it )

My MacBookPro is model 3,1. Don't remember when I got it. Can't find a date.

i just can't activate airdrop on my mac, yes it supports airdrop, check that already. i have used airdrop on my iPhone countless times, but i can't make it work on my mac. according to other people you have to find the activation code, copy and paste it into terminal to turn it on, done that already but no success, can anyone help? i mean seriously Apple, what would it take to have a on and off bottom?

The dates are for when the model was introduced, not when you bought it.

A MacBook Pro 3.1 is a Mid/Late 2007 model. Thus it will not be able to do Airdrop.
