My desktop scrambles all folders, on start.

After shutdown, on start all of the folders on the desktop are moved to the right side of the screen and jumbled together, not as I had them organized on the left side of the screen.

I also must say I am very sad to see Apple deleting posts in this thread.

Posts are only removed if they violate the Terms of Use we all agree to when we post on these forums. Apple only intervenes when a user makes a request and even then they investigate to see the accused post is an actual offense. In the event you haven't read them here is a link: Terms of Use

How I resolved this issue:

a) Control + right click the desktop;

b) Click sort by > snap to grid;

c) Move icons to grids;

d) Restart computer;

e) Control + right click desktop;

f) Click sort by > None

g) Restart computer

h) Move icons back to orginal positions

Leaving icons in snap to grid mode will not allow you to place icons precisely. You need to get back to the "none" mode. This has held up for a week without problems,

Hi Baltwo,

Thanks for your suggested solution to prevent desktop icons being constantly rearranged.

I have used it at so far I have no problems.

I just wonder is it a problem that will reccur again as I add newer icons to the desktop

and will I need to go through the resolving steps again?

I appreciate your opinion.

No you tell them, it was you who were promoting the article as pukka but the problem is still there and despite all these stupid comments no one has solved the problem. I have tries all of the above solutions but none of them have worked for me. Maybe, just maybe, if I were a computer programmer I could have solved it myself but as I am just a Joe Public I have to live with it! You techie types are all the same - paid for producing rubbish that we all end up paying for and keep paying for.

For goodness sake please someone sove the problem once and for all.

My desktop scrambles all folders, on start.
