Oct 2, 2011 11:03 AM in response to baltwoby fredrik34,That code works. But the problem comes back. Sometimes after a day. Sometimes after a week.
I also must say I am very sad to see Apple deleting posts in this thread.

Posts are only removed if they violate the Terms of Use we all agree to when we post on these forums. Apple only intervenes when a user makes a request and even then they investigate to see the accused post is an actual offense. In the event you haven't read them here is a link: Terms of Use

Oct 2, 2011 11:26 AM in response to rkaufmann87by iRobertiThink,If only Apple interveined to solve the problem then this topic would be solved now and we could all get on with something constructive instead of wasting our time and money picking holes in an obviously flawed OSX 10.

Photos for MacI'm guessing that you still haven't read the Terms of Use. Please spend 15 minutes and do and you will see what is OK to post on this forum and what is not.
If you have feedback for Apple you can post it at www.apple.com/feedback. If you have a bug report then report it at the same URL.

Oct 10, 2011 4:52 PM in response to Timurfby Commensalate,How I resolved this issue:
a) Control + right click the desktop;
b) Click sort by > snap to grid;
c) Move icons to grids;
d) Restart computer;
e) Control + right click desktop;
f) Click sort by > None
g) Restart computer
h) Move icons back to orginal positions
Leaving icons in snap to grid mode will not allow you to place icons precisely. You need to get back to the "none" mode. This has held up for a week without problems,

Oct 10, 2011 7:14 PM in response to Commensalateby fredfromorange,I've seen this solution on other threads but it doesn't work all the time. The the problem seems to be deeper than that.

Oct 16, 2011 9:44 AM in response to baltwoby Entonox,Hi Baltwo,
Thanks for your suggested solution to prevent desktop icons being constantly rearranged.
I have used it at so far I have no problems.
I just wonder is it a problem that will reccur again as I add newer icons to the desktop
and will I need to go through the resolving steps again?
I appreciate your opinion.

Oct 16, 2011 8:36 PM in response to iRobertiThinkby baltwo,Then, post a comment to the article I linked to. I've not seen a reoccurrence, so for me, it's fixed.

Oct 16, 2011 10:28 PM in response to baltwoby iRobertiThink,No it is not fixed, the article is wrong (based on my experience).

Oct 16, 2011 11:32 PM in response to iRobertiThinkby baltwo,You're repeating yourself. Post to the article and let the author know.

Oct 17, 2011 7:24 AM in response to baltwoby iRobertiThink,No you tell them, it was you who were promoting the article as pukka but the problem is still there and despite all these stupid comments no one has solved the problem. I have tries all of the above solutions but none of them have worked for me. Maybe, just maybe, if I were a computer programmer I could have solved it myself but as I am just a Joe Public I have to live with it! You techie types are all the same - paid for producing rubbish that we all end up paying for and keep paying for.
For goodness sake please someone sove the problem once and for all.

Oct 17, 2011 7:37 AM in response to baltwoby fredfromorange,As I noted before, the problem is deeper than that attempted solution. Claiming it's done for you and letting that sit and smell does not solve the problem.
