How to sync Mac Mail messages across two Macs?

We have an iMac in the office and a MacBook Pro for use when traveling. We have the same eMail account setup on both machines. I would like to check my mail while on the road but want all messages to be managed from the office iMac, (to stay on the server). It seems that if I read or send a message on the MBP it does not show on the iMac. For example, if I send a message from the MBP, is there some way for it to show in the "Sent" folder of the iMac in the office. Thanks.

MacBook Pro 2.8GHz Core i7, Mac OS X (10.6.8), MacBookPro6,2

You would need to set up the e-mail account as IMAP on both the macs. That way both macs will show exact same status of all messages. If you send a msg from MBP, it will show up in the sent folder of the iMac or any other portable device as well like iphone or ipad.
