Auto brightness is not working on MacBook Pro OS X Lion

I recently upgraded to OS X Lion and I noticed that Auto brightness isn't working anymore on my Pro. I'm really not sure how to go about fixing this, if there is a way to fix this. Any and all suggestions are appreciated, though.

I am having the same issue. MBP 6,2 on OSX Lion. Auto brighness will dim, but will not brighten. I have to manually brightent. Manual control does not work either. I can attempt to brighten and dim with the F-key controls, but nothing happens (except for the guage popping up on the screen and going up/down). The only way to actually make the screen brighten or dim is with the slider control in the System Preferences.

In the first I meant also that the ambient sensor doesn't work anymore.

Auto brightness does work also on Lion, but it fades really slow and light more then on SL.

Go to:

Settings > Monitors > activate "Adjust brightness automatically" > Put the slider in the middle or more right > leave this settings window open > cover the iSight Camera on the top of the Macbook Pro monitor with your hand (on the left of the iSight Camera there is a little spot for the brightness)

Take a look at the "monitors settings window" that we leave open, the slider beginns to turn left slowly and the monitor beginns dimming, adjusting is working and depends on the ambient light. When you remove your hand from the sensor it slides back to the right.

should work on iMacs, too. 😉

Not working for me on a 2009 MacBookPro. Covering the sensor/camera causes no change. Brightness does not change from the setting I provide no matter what the external light is like, and the keyboard backlight does not come on unless I use third-party software to force it on.

Basically, the auto-brightness and keyboard backlight is completely non-functional for me in Lion. Worked just fine in Snow Leopard.

Let's hope this gets fixed in an update, and soon.
