Fixing accidental double-spaces between words?
Because of the terms involved, this is really tricky to search for on the internet, which is why I have come here.
I'm wondering if there is a way to add, in the Pages > Preferences > Auto-Correction Preferences, a replacement for accidentally typing two spaces between words. I type one space after sentences, not two, so a universal replacement for two spaces to be replaced by one space is what I'm looking for. This is mainly for those times when I accidentally type two spaces between words without realizing it, and I sometimes don't notice them until later, if at all. I've tried the obvious, typing two spaces (as in, two presses of the space bar) in the "Replace" column and one space in the "With" column and clicking the checkbox to turn it on. Nothing happens in the document when I type two spaces.
I'm guessing it has something to do with the replacement rule not accepting the "space" as a character in itself. Does anyone know of a way to force it?
I guess this might be similar, but I have a rule that replaces two hyphens with an Em Dash, and I did that by finding an Em Dash elsewhere and copy/pasting it in the replacement rule table.
Thanks for any help!
Oh yeah, I'm using most-recent version of Pages '09, v4.1
