filevault 2 "Unable to create boot loader partition due to the specifics of your partition map layout."

With a G-Drive Slim I get this message when trying to set up the disk for use with Time Machine and disk encryption. I tried Erasing the disk and it did not help. Time Machine seems to want a different partition layout on the drive. I notice people are having the same problem with other drives.

This issue has been filed in our bug database under the original Bug ID# 9871409. D'oh I just picked up a WD 3TB Essentials to use as an encrypted disk... Very disappointed, now this lovely piece of hardware is going to sit around gathering dust until Disk Utility is fixed - I just don't have enough spare disk to fill it up, then migrate off again to encrypt, then put the data back on.

Submitted a feedback ticket, has anyone heard from Apple if this will be fixed anytime soon?

*sigh*

Keep in mind that i think there is a work around here.

key word here is THINK...

i just never bothered trying it because i was lazy but u can partition the 3TB into smaller 1 TB or 500 GIG chunks and then encrypt each one of those partitions. but i just dont need 6 disks ... much rather have just 1 giant 3 TB one.

So i just am using it on a windows 7 system with true crypt.

and god i hate using that system. but no choice at the moment until this gets fixed.
