Cannot send MobileMe mail from Mail in Lion

Try deleting the account and adding it back.

Have you clicked on Connection Doctor?

Have you tried deleting your mail account and setting it up as new?

Deleting and restoring a MobileMe account is a no risk situation. One of the benefits of an IMAP account.

I have had the same situation happen to me i.e. mail not getting sent by mobile me account. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the account in Mail but it still does not work. What is the next step? Thank you for your help! By the way, connection doctor is telling me that connection is indeed on.

Try making the changes shown below, save the changes, quit Mail, reopen it and try sending:

Thank you Lanny; it actually worked after a while once I reinstalled the account, but then stopped working again. I then tried what you suggested and it currently works, but it feels super unstable. Why is this happening, and should I go back to using default ports later on?

It varies from one ISP to another. Some ISPs shy away from port 25 as a way of combating spam. I have no idea who your ISP is, and if you're using a notebook and travel alot, you'll be using a variety of ISPs.

I recommend that you consult with your ISP and use the settings that they recommend. Since this can't always be done, you'll know where to try alternate settings.

I'm having the exact same problem. I can send from all of my other mail accounts, but not MobileMe.

Unfortunately, I can't see the image you posted above.

It has been auwful . I have called Apple three times and they say they have a problem but no fix. Told me to keep checking for updates that will get my smtp to send mail. I am sure the guys at the apple store are not tell the poor people that walk out with a new 2500 laptop that it will not send mail at all!!!!!

I use this for business and they have me using other smtp servers as a work around. If this was on the news they would fix the problem!!

I am having a similar problem. Upgraded to Lion. Then accepted the Mobile Me request in Mobile me which seemed to move the calendar and email to a different synching method. But most important is that I have several mobile me email accounts and now when I go to send an email from any of them the sent message just hangs and hangs. If I send it from a gmail account no problem! I tried the fix you posted above but that did not seem to work. Also, strange is that occassionally an email will send from the mobile me account but after only after waiting for a while? Any Help is appreciated!!!

are you saying to set it to port 587, or just to set it to a custom port? if yes, how do you figure out which port.

the funny thing about this is that put lion on both my macs, and only one is hosed up. maybe as i use the second one more it will croak, too.
