How to fully sync my Earthlink email account with my Mac's Mail?

How to fully sync my Earthlink email account with my Mac's Mail?

I do get the new Earthlink emails in the Mac Mail Inbox, but I would also like every action on the Earthlink, respectively Mac Mail account, to be reflected on the other. I.e. every deletion, send, etc.

As is the case between my Outlook server and client.

Is this posible, and if so how?

Also, the default setting being, unfortunately, to delete emails from the server after they have been downloaded, I'd like to put those emails back on the server.

Is this posible, and if so again how?

Not possible with an Earthlink account since an Earthlink account can be accessed as a POP account only.

This is possible with an IMAP or Exchange account.

This is available under the Advanced tab for the account preferences with the Mail app. The only way to put messages removed from the server after being downloaded by an email client is to send/forward the messages to yourself. Welcome to the limitations with a POP account, which orignated from the early dark ages of email account access with an email client on a computer.

Sounds like I should move away from Earthlink...

You can access a Gmail account as an IMAP account with the Mail.app on your Mac and with any other email client used to access the account. All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account are kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account.

This is not supported with a POP acccount.
