adding photos to photo booth library?

hey everyone!

i had a hard drive replacement and saved all my data about 1 week before upgrading to lion.

thus i had little data on my harddrive when lion was installed. when i had installed it, i hadn't yet transferred my pictures folder with my iphoto and photo booth library.

so when i opened photo booth for the first time, it asked me if i wanted to convert my photo booth folder to a library and if i didn't have one it would make a new one. anyways i clicked yes and now i have an empty library and i don't know how to add my old photos to the new library.

i tried deleting the photo booth library and putting the folder with the old photos in the pictures folder, assuming it would ask me if i wanted to convert it but that didn't happen. i also thought if i right-clicked the library and said show package contents and then manually add the photos it would work, but a friend told me it would cuorrupt the library...

i hope there is another alternative to re-installing the system...

please help me! thank you!

I'm also wondering if there's a solution to this. I migrated to a new Mac with a significantly smaller (albeit SSD) hard drive compared to my previous Mac, so instead of migrating via a Time Machine backup, I've done everything manually. Now I can't figure out how to convert my old Photo Booth folder into the new Photo Booth library. I even tried deleting Photo Booth's .plist files from the ~/Library/Preferences folder, but to no avail.

Help?

There is a solution for your problem, but it's a bit nasty. Since photobooth went from storing pics in a folder to an apple lib, you have to add the photos to the new photobooth lib, and then edit the plist to make things match. Here is an example in pictures:

1.right mouse click the photobooth lib, and use show contents to get into it. then drag your old photobooth jpegs or movies in:

2) Using a decent editor, like BBEDIT, update the plist to reflect all the changes:

3) test photobooth to make sure all is well.
