After upgrading my MacBook Pro's OS to Lion and starting VMware Fusion, I found out that the video camea cannot be found either in Windows 7 or Windows XP virtual machines. No video chatting in virtual machine is now possible.
By the way, the video camera functions normally with Facetime under the newly-installed Lion.
Try re-installing VMWare tools. That may fix it.

uh oh, if you can't reinstall vmtools, i would
1) install the latest VMware update for the client u are using. I use fusion, and my version is 3.1.3.416484
2) try the VMWare forum for a complete uninstallation procedure, then then do a fresh install.
I have figured out how to install it ( open the Windows Explore, and find the VMware Tools CD image and click "set up"). My VMware Fusion is 3.1.3. Actually I have just reinstalled the Windows XP and then did a fresh installation of VMware tool, But the video camera is still unavailabe in my online chat program.

Thank you very much. I tried to connect Apple built-in iSight via the VMware Fusion toolbar-Virtual Machine-USB, but it requires the installation of bootcamp. I just ignored the warning, and then rebooted the Windows XP. It worked miraculously.
Very cool. I too had one machine that got that strange bootcamp warning, which is not even installed on the machine, but was at one time. Must be a VMWare bug...
