My 2nd Gen. Touch wont update from 3.1.3

Hi there,

I have just recently bought a game off the app store, and I come to find out that I need to update my Ipod Touch which is A1288 (2nd gen.) I believe . My current software is 3.1.3 so it should update but when i update from my mac computer it says that I already have the latest update or in exact words it says "This version of itunes (9.1.2) is the current version". I need to have 4.1 for the game and somehow I'm not understanding what's going wrong.

You will require a 3G iPod touch or higher to access all iOS 4+ firmware

Also might be because iTunes is not up to date (10.4 is current software)

I have had my ipod for a few years and I really haven't checked if i could upgrade? Am I able to upgrade to 3g?

By 3G I mean third generation or above which are newer iPods which can not be upgraded to they have to be purchased

To get new software on iTunes go to home page of apple.com and there should be an upgrade to iTunes 10.4 section

There might be a website to do so that I am not aware of. But other than that if u can't find one I would just sell the 2g and get a 4g which is all up to date with all software right when you purchase it.
