How can I fix my dropping wireless AirPort problem in Snow Leopard 10.6.8?

For a long time I suffer with wireless connectivity issues with my MBP that I didn't suffer with other Windows 7, XP based computers and even on my iPAD2. I have a common WLAN Broadband Router nothing I did could stop the random disconnections and slow internet on my half year old MBP. This is growing extremely frustrating me. Can anyone help me how to fix it?

This is a 8 months old 2010 Macbook Pro 15" and its randomly dropping the wifi signal every 2 minutes. I just updated to 10.6.8 and it's still doing it. Any ideas anybody? Should I take it back to the Apple Store or should I change the wifi router (I didn't suffer with other Windows 7, XP based computers and even on my iPAD2.)? I am 3 meter from the router.

I am using WEP encription (64 bits) in the router

Band: 2.4 GHz (B+G)

Haven't you tried to take it back to the Apple Store? I am planning to take it back this week. I cannot work as a webdesigner/developer on this way. The connection drops randomly every 2 minutes. Then Turn AirPort OFF/ON and returns the connection again, but only for about two minutes, then starts this procedure again.😠

I am using the latest OS X updates and planning to update to Lion and I hope that this problem might be solved in the new Mac OS X.

well we don't have App store in Sweden. 😟

I work with avid so I can not upgrade to Lion for now.

But i have same problem as you. 2 minutes and i have to turn it off and on. I am thinking about to role back to an older Snow Leopard.

And i dont like the ide to buy an expensive computer and after a year pay more for Apple to fix the Airport that should work longer then one 12 months before it is corrupted.

Cheers

Change your router channel. Sometimes this all you will have to do.

System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network

Unlock the padlock

Locations: Automatic

Highlight Airport

Click the Assist Me button

In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.

System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock. Highlight Airport. Network Name-select your name. Click on the Advanced button. Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.

Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined." Click the OK button and lock the padlock. Restart your computer.

No internet connection (wireless)

Check to see if an extra entry is present in the DNS Tab for your wireless connection (System Preferences/Network/Airport/Advanced/DNS).

Delete all extra entries that you find.

Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."
