Male 8 pin Mini Din Mac to USB adapter cable

I have an old Opcode Translator Pro Midi interface that I used with an old Mac. The CPU and Thru connections used an 8 pin Mini Din Mac cable via Printer or Modem input on the Mac. The unit is G8 as it has 2 In and 6 Out Midi sockets which I want to use with my keyboard controller (non USB) and a Roland MT-120 Synth. I now have a new iMac which uses USB 2 and Firewire. Is there such a cable which has USB on one end and Male 8 pin Mini Din Mac on the other? Or wouldnt this type of connection work?

Is it possible to convert the Opcode Translator Pro somehow to USB 2?

It would seem after much research it appears the best option is to buy a new midi interface. Whilst it is technically possible to use a USB to Serial adapter I would experience latency problems. It is better to connect my keyboard controller and synth through a new USB midi interface

I have found this USB to Serial Adapter which claims to support both RS 422 and RS 232, the latter I think I need for my situation.

Having looked at a few other posts I wonder if it is possible to use an 8 Pin to ethernet adapter instead of USB port on the iMac. I have an ethernet router which I use to network a MFC Printer and when I want to connect with my old PC. Maybe that is a better route to solve this problem??

Sounds like you have done a good job of thinking this through. A new adapter box makes a lot of sense. Have you considered finding a new home for the older equipment so that the complete set gets used?
