In Lion, how to drag and drop in full screen mode between windows?

Hi guys, I would much appreciate your answers to my problem.

Say, I want to drag a picture from safari (or multiple photos on Aperture) and drop it into Compose New Message windows on Mail with all windows running in full screen mode, how do i do that?

I don't want to touch the dock during this process.

Thanks in advance.

with all windows opened in full screen mode

? i think this is highly unlikely possibility. I think the idea of fullscreen use is to stay there and use that single app. for example u would export a pic in Aperture, swipe to Mail, and attach. For d&d interaction between windows, it seems u would need to be able to see all windows involved. but maybe I am missing ur point?

If you have one of your hot corners set up to show Mission Control, you can start dragging your picture, move the mouse the the corner to activate Mission Control, drag over Mail, then wait for Mail to activate and bring to the front. As long as you are composing a message before you start the drag, you should be able to drop the picture right in.

I think this is quite simple. at least it works for me ;-)

Select the picture (in Safari) you want to add in another application (eg. mail). Start dragging it and hold the mouse or trackpad pressed. Then use "CMD-TAB" to switch between application. When selected application (eg. new mail window) in forground release the mouse or trackpad ... result select picture available in mail!

I hope this info helps.

Accidentally I managed to drag some photos from Aperture into Mail with both apps running in full screen mode. It is not quite straight forward and it took sometime for me to figure it out. I don't know what is wrong but I'm sure Apple can fix this with an update in future. I could now drag pictures from Safari, photos from Aperture with ease. I have included some screen shots which could help you guys understand better. At present I must agree P@nt@ni solution seem to be better for this problem. Ensure that you enable 3 finger drag in system preferences (under trackpad) as 1 finger drag didn't work for me in this method.

Another possibility that was introduced with Leopard and cloned from Windows: drag over dock symbol

Supposing the 2 apps are open and the target app has a symbol in the dock:

-- Click and hold the thing you want to drag

-- drag it to the target symbol in dock and wait until it blinks

-- wait until the "all open windows" screen comes up

-- hover over the target window and wait for a blew frame and blinking

-- drop it

finally, the thing is inserted at the target windows insert point when you left it before.

this works for full screen apps too.

I've been having this problem with Skype since going full screen with it. I often need to send screenshots by dropping them into a conversation.

A similar approach to what you're suggesting can be acheived if you've got a mouse AND a track pad. Start dragging an item with the mouse, swipe with the track pad until you get to the app, and then drop where you need it.
