they need to drop Flash and go with a more universal platform.

As in what?

Flash is supported on 95% of all internet connected devices.

Flash Support (all versions) 95.57%

Are you suggesting they retool towards mobile? Because that segment makes up a very small percentage of web traffic.

2012 Win7 Vista Win2003 WinXP Linux Mac Mobile
February 48.7% 4.5% 0.7% 30.0% 5.0% 9.1% 1.3%
January 47.1% 4.7% 0.7% 31.4% 4.9% 9.0% 1.3%

Or are you saying they should re-tool towards IOS? Because now your talking an even smaller segment, about 0.75% of web traffic.

2012 Total iPhone iPad iPod Android Others
February 1.27 % 0.22 % 0.45 % 0.04 % 0.39 % 0.17 %
January 1.25 % 0.22 % 0.44 % 0.04 % 0.38 % 0.17 %

Or are you suggesting they drop many features in an attempt to be cross platform? Because right now it doesn't look like that is possible with anything media rich.

Performance tests also accounted for a few interesting tidbits of info. Flash achieves frame rates between four to ten times higher than HTML5 when handling various particle effects, at one sixth of the average CPU utilization. And Google’s Flock of Geese test reveals that the native C++ based iOS client is four to (just over) nine times faster than HTML5.

If you’re going cross platform, then HTML5 remains basically unusable.

I think the company is doing the right thing, maybe they can eventually make a dumbed down version for just IOS devices, as they are the only segment this is an issue for anyway. Maybe they can sell you an app or something, IOS users seem to love to pay for content they can get free elsewhere anyway.
