Slow internet after Lion OS X Upgrade

That is a very broad and vague description of a problem. What do you mean that your "internet connection is really slow"? Is slow downloading large files? Is it taking a long time to load webpages? What browser are you using? Is it taking a long time to transfer files over Wi-Fi? Can you be more specific?

I'm having a similar problem ever since I upgraded to Lion OS X.

My internet connection is working fine (the app store, itunes store etc. load quickly an dwith no problems). However, when I open Safari (or Firefox/Google Chrome) it takes well over a minute for the page to load.

This is my first time using one of these boards... but I've had a number of problems since the Lion upgrade so it might not be my last.

I just installed Lion on imac with ethernet FIOS modem- Ran speed test before installation and it was 44 We are supposed to have 35 so we were delighted. After installing Lion it dropped to 25. I jest spent 45 minutes on phone with Apple and it has dropped further. It has always been over 35. I am to call back later and speak to supervisor- Any suggestions would be welcome

I am having the same problem with my iMac after upgrading from Leopard to Lion. My girlfriends Macbook is still running Leopard and she is having no problems on the same internet connection. I can't really even load a full page now on my iMac. I have tried Chrome and it doesn't work either.

I had the exact same problem! Just called Apple today and this worked PERFECTLY. Hope you have the same results!

Well this has brought some relief but this is not the fix for the overall slow Os x Lion performance, both when browsing and trying to work with multiple applications. after performing Memory Reset system started with over a Gig of memory free, now 304.4MB. Only running safari, firefox and mail... Oh and activity monitor.

Seems to me mds is the load which I believe that process is related to spotlight, no idea how to manage etc... Something clearly not right with Lion but the memory reset can bring a slight bit of relief, thanks.

I downloaded Lion two weeks ago, and the Internet has been astonishingly slow ever since. I even called to yell at Comcast and the first words out of the techs mouth after I said the word Mac were, "Did you recently instally Lion?"

Apparently this is a problem for a number of Mac users. I tried the reset prescribed above, hopefully, it will help. But this is a ridiculous bug and needs to be remedied.

I am having the same problems. I've downloading a 9.1 MB file through Safari for 2 hours! This is ridiculous! It really makes me want to go back to an older operating system. Everyone else on our network (using PCs) is experiencing our normal download rates, which are WAY faster! Terribly disappointed with Lion so far.

Resetting the PRAM & NVRAM was not at all helpful. All it did was mess up my secondary monitor settings. Now I can't use the highest resolution. Very frustrated with this!

Does somebody has run wireshark on the uplink? After having a quick look at the output, there are many hw-checksum errors and some duplicate packet errors/warnings in the data stream. Disabling hwcksum by typing:

sysctl -w net.link.ether.inet.apple_hwcksum_tx=0

sysctl -w net.link.ether.inet.apple_hwcksum_rx=0

helped a little bit. Still too slow for a 100Mbps CableModem.

After some more research, i found out, that wireshark and hwcksum is not the problem. The ip uplink has 10% packet loss and slows the two way hadnshake significantly down. Sorry for pointing in the wrong direction.

Ever since upgrading to Lion my internet is faster.

Same problem here. I'm on a 25Mbps fiber connection and the best I can get on tests is 5-7Mbps after installing Lion. Tried ressetting pram and it did nothing. Really hope Apple fixes this bug soon, it's pretty major. Can't even use OnLive now. :T
