Hello joybryne, i can see the problem you are going through because i have a pc which has a very similar problem. My advice to you is to book a Genius bar appomient. I had expreninced 3 Genius bar appomients because of my ipad 2 's system. The Apple store gave me a new ipad as soon as possible . I'am sure they will do it for your case too but make sure your warranty is not expired. I hope this helped you.

Me too. My MacBookAir (mid-2011, 13 inch, i5, 4GB of RAM factory-installed by Apple, running 10.7.5 Lion) started freezing in the last couple of weeks, and the frequency of freezes seems to be increasing. Prior to that, it was a dream machine.

Freezes often happens in Chrome. I keep about 5 tabs open on average. Tonight it froze twice, and once with *only* Chrome open. But it seems like more of a Finder issue, as my cursor still responds to my mouse, but clicking on different window panes does nothing: I remain stuck on the window pane I was in. If I try to launch an app from the dock, a Finder window opens instead of the app opening. If I double click on the app in the Finder window, it opens the app but soon freezes again. CPU is fine, 50% of hard-drive still available, unit is mildly warm but fan not running hot, and no kernel panics in the crash log.

I suspect the Finder.

I just updated all my extra software, including Wacom tablet and Epson printer drivers, as these communicate regularly with the Finder.

WIll give it a 48-hour window to see if this improves anything. WIll also run DiskWarrior in Target Mode tomorrow.

😁 Cracking up @apple is extraorniary...Geez man, even if you are going to recommend Windows over OS X at least don't push Windows 8...The verdict on that OS is still out and will be for awhile, IMO.

Darcey, back to your Air...I know that Chrome was giving some people freezing issues at one point...Try removing it completely from your system and going to a non-webkit browser like Firefox and that may stop the freezes.

Other suggestions: upgrade to Moutain Lion and see what that does...Also, if you still have Applecare in effect go to an Apple store and have them test it and see if they'll replace the logic board,

All that said, all the above steps never did help my 11" 2011 Air, but perhaps it will work for you. Best wishes, I know it is frustrating!

Likewise here. My MBA 13" 2012 would freeze randomly for about 2 seconds or so every now & then. I notice this to happen the most when I'm in Google Chrome. I don't really use other applications much except Chrome & Thunderbird. But now when I close Chrome & use Safari instead, the freezes seem to (mostly) go away.

Note that this doesn't happen on my 2011 27" iMac.

What you can do is restart the MacBook. When you are turning it on, press and hold the key '' M ''. This would send you to the Apple Software Test. Follow the on screen instructions then start the test. It may take a minute or so. After the test is done, there may be a code on the screen. Take a note or a picture of that. Bring the MacBook and the code to Apple Genius Bar and tell them that its freezing. Give them the code and they will try to fix it.
