My macbook air keeps freezing

Everytime I am using my air, it will freeze on me. No matter wether im watching a video or using the internet or microsoft office. It will freeze. It comes up with the "bech ball" loading symbol and then freeze completly. Sometimes it will freeze during startup.

I am aware it is a situation airs, and it maybe a fan issue. How can I find out what the issue is and how can I fix it. Please.

Really you need to post some more information. Which Air, how much ram and available drive space. What does activity monitor show going on? Have you tried a reboot, etc, etc etc.

I have having the same issue: brand new 2011 13" MacBookAir i7 256GB SSD. The computer froze twice today. No warning, no beachball, no grey screen of death; just became unresponsive both from the bluetooth keyboard/trackpad and from the keyboard/trackpad on the Air. I called Apple Support and they gave no real explanation. Suggested a SMC and PRAM reset - will see if this helps.

Similar issue here. 2011 13" MBA i7 256Gb SSD. It will just freeze completely--no warning. I suspect that it may be due to the OS losing a connection to the KB and trackpad. I say this because once I was able to press the power button and I did get the "What do you want to do?"-type dialog--which of course I could not answer because I had lost input capability. However, the next time it happened even the power button did not cause a response.

So far this has happened 3 times in the past 2 or 3 days. Interestingly, I have had the MBA for a couple of weeks now and didn't notice it before a few days ago. The one change I made in the past few days that could have done something "dangerous" (potentially) is that I installed the latest version of Parallels. Anyone else load Parallels before noticing this?

This is frustrating. I have not seen such "total freeze" behavior at the OS level since Win NT.

I'm having the same issue on my late 2011 MacBook Air 13 inch i7, 256GB (Samsung SSD)

Tried reseting SMC and PRAM but this did not stop the freezing issue.

I just came across this article which suggested turning off the "Put hard disks to sleep" option for SSDs: http://poller.se/2010/08/optimizing-mac-os-x-for-ssd-drives/

Not sure if this will help yet but I just wanted to leave this here if it could help others.

Just got my 13" i5/128GB yesterday and have had at least 5 freezes in 1.5 days. I have done SMC and PRAM resets but continue to have random freezing. No beachball just frozen mouse/keyboard and if I close lid the display does not turn off. Will likely be calling support and/or taking it in to request replacement. This combined with the problems getting it to wake from sleep have not instilled much confidence that I made a good purchase here...
