Best iPad Stylus

I was looking for some help on the best iPad Stylus. I want to use it primarily for writing and taking notes with the WritePad app so I am looking for one with a more narrow point.

thanks

I know everyone has been hyping their favorite stylus but the only ones that are any different than the rubber tipped ones use a metalic looking conductive fiber which doesnt skip like its rubber cousins.

there are two variations on the fiber type, brush style or woven. i prefer the latter since i dont do much art on my ipad.

Even though everyone else has given their oppinion, no one has mentioned the TruGlide

I've developed an electronic ballpoint stylus for the iPad. The tip is a very smooth solid metal sphere of 3 mm diameter. It glides easily over the glass surface of the touchscreen. The small size of the tip makes it attractive for drawing or handwriting, as one can see the point of contact of the stylus with the screen. The large blunt tips of the styluses on the market hide the work being done.

The tip may be only 3mm, but the shaft is the size of a friggin' Maglight. Get that under control and you might be on to something.

I use my iPad for extesive note-taking as part of my job. I never use it for sketching or anything similar. I notice many replies to your question now are a year old. Does anyone have a current recommendation for a writing stylus--purely writing? I need something that is VERY fast. And I emphasize that. VERY FAST WRITING. No drawing. Can anyone help? Thank you.

For anyone else who needs a really good writing stylus, a friend just showed me something very important. A few minutes after I posted my message, a friend loaned me an Incipio stylus that comes with that company's protective iPad cover. I'm sure there are others out there that are similar, but here is the important difference between the Incipio and the one I had been using, a Macally.

The Incipio has a firm rounded writing point while the Macally was soft. As soon as I began writing with the Incipio, the difference was remarkable. It flies across the glass. I had no idea the firmness made such a huge difference. But I'm going shopping now for a stylus with a firm, rounded tip. For those of us who use a stylus only for writing, the increase in speed is incredible.

Regarding your line of..."It flies across the glass. I had no idea the firmness made such a huge difference. But I'm going shopping now for a stylus with a firm, rounded tip. For those of us who use a stylus only for writing, the increase in speed is incredible," let me say this. If you want total 100% no dragging, no smearing, no smudging, and a stylus that flies over the glass, not to mention, a choice of over 50 different stylus, a dozen of which are telescoping that are awesome, you have got to try STYLUS-R-US. They make every other stylus on the web, look foolish. I do note-taking and drawing at least 7 hours every day and they make both task a breeze. They create super fine lines and don’t need replacement anything. Just check out their reviews on this page and you’ll see which is best for the iPad or any other touch screen.

I'm still looking for an an excellent stylus for writing--and only writing--on my iPad. In less than six months I've gone through two stylus(es? styli?) because the tips cracked. I write intensively every day for work on my iPad. Not occasional notes. Not even regular jotting memos. I mean real, an hour or more at a time, fast, intensive, handwriting.

I'd like to try some of the more expensive styluses that have been mentioned in this discussion, but don't want to spend the money if they're too fragile to last more than a few months. I notice some in their ads specifically say things like "use a light touch" which I interpret to mean if I write normally, I'll break the tip pretty quickly.

So, please. Has anyone discovered a stylus with a firm (not soft) tip that can be used intensively to write for long periods? I need this solely for real, rigorous writing. I don't care about anything except writing. And I can't let the tip of the stylus dictate how I write. I need the stylus to work the way I do.

Thank you for your help.

amPen has a cheap stylus for $9 or so. It's lightweight and durable.

Wacom Bamboo is a more premium stylus. It cost around $28 which is not bad if you are going to be using it a lot.

There are other brands that sell in a pack of like 5 to 12 but you only really need one high quality stylus for your iPad.

This article will help you find which is the best stylus for you.

I also forgot to mention that you probably want one with a smaller rubber tip because it will be more precise when taking notes and such.
