I don't think that camera is going to work.

I know you marked "solved," but it looks like it isn't compatible with Macintosh

I've read what Micah told you, but the existence of the firewire port isn't the only thing to consider.

It records mpeg video.

In addition the specs indicate:

PC compatibility: Windows 2000, Me, XP; not compatible with Macintosh

Don't buy it.

OOOOHHHH David, i was so happy....... are you absolutely shure? I already bought the camera, was listed in ebay, in the auction is said that is: compatible with windows and mac. here i post: hope you will understand:

DV in (IEEE1394, FireWire) Sì
DV out (IEEE1394, FireWire) Sì
Interfaccia informatico USB
Funzione Wireless No
Compatibile PC e Mac

i hope to solve the problem.......

The E stands for European, that's all.

It's a PAL camera.

Here's another link:

If you click on the "2" towards the button "What Sony doesn't tell you" it says:

"The problem with all of the Sony MicroMV cameras is that you cannot use them with any of the standard video editing packages such as Adobe Premiere or Apple's Final Cut Pro. Sony neglects to tell you that you can only use their included MovieShaker software which is notoriously unreliable. So, unless you plan to edit in the analog realm, or not edit at all, you're better off with any other MiniDV or Digital8 camera."

Sorry to bear the bad news.
