final cut pro and sony micro MV DCR-IP55 E help requested from italy
hello to everibody in the forum, please forgive my bad english. Now the problem: i have the possibility to buy for a very cheap price a micro MV sony DCR-IP55 E. I use imac g5 mac os x 10.3.9. The sony camera has i.LINK (micro MV) and also USB. Some one knows if is possible to capture images in final cut pro 4? Please have all my gratefulness, i cannot find any information in italy. best wishes to all. renzaccio
If your camera has an iLink (Sony Firewire) port, then you shouldn't have any trouble connecting it to your mac. Then all you need to do is figure out if it will work with FCP4- my experience is that, worst case, it will at least work with Firewire basic, and you may loose device control.
Micha, thank you very much for your clear answer. Now i can proceed with buyng the camera. If you need something from italy i will be delighted to help.
OOOOHHHH David, i was so happy....... are you absolutely shure? I already bought the camera, was listed in ebay, in the auction is said that is: compatible with windows and mac. here i post: hope you will understand:
DV in (IEEE1394, FireWire) Sì
DV out (IEEE1394, FireWire) Sì
Interfaccia informatico USB
Funzione Wireless No
Compatibile PC e Mac
If you click on the "2" towards the button "What Sony doesn't tell you" it says:
"The problem with all of the Sony MicroMV cameras is that you cannot use them with any of the standard video editing packages such as Adobe Premiere or Apple's Final Cut Pro. Sony neglects to tell you that you can only use their included MovieShaker software which is notoriously unreliable. So, unless you plan to edit in the analog realm, or not edit at all, you're better off with any other MiniDV or Digital8 camera."
David in italian we say: Ambasciator non porta pene: i try to translate: who gives tha bad news is not responsable, thank you very much for your help, i will contact the seller and ask to invalidate the buyng.
Hi all. As a new user of Mac I am experiencing problems with loading video's from my Sony DCR-IP5E. I have tried to load Movieshaker 3.1 but the software will not auto-run. Can anybody provide instructions on how to manually load Movieshaker or how to use the Mac software to work with the Sony Viedo Camera.
