Working with Two Editors

For the life of me, I'm uncertain what you are asking?

Do you mean over the internet, or on a shared network, or what?

You have access media files. They're big file, even in the case of the smallest throughput, such as NTSC DV.

Unless you're overnighting firewire drives, I can't think of a way.

You can create an intranet to access media.

Not at the same time, and certainly not over the internet.

Again, how do you intend to create a network between two cities?

Do you have T1-T3 connections?

An intranet deals with an inhouse network setting.

Moreover, you can't be accessing the files for the same project from the same source simultaneously.

1. capture the footage
2. duplicate the footage to a second firewire drive
3. fed ex the drive to the second location
4. Both start cutting - each does their own SEQENCE.
5. zip (or Stuffit) the FCP file and e-mail JUST THE FCP FILE to each other.
6. have fun.

As Studio X has correctly pointed out, and I mentioned in my first post, firewire drives are the only manageable solution

I believe years back when I was at NAB they were talking about Holonet?(SP)
It was a service that provided the throughput for an editor in LA to be working on the timeline (AVID at the time) and the producer in NY seeing everything in realtime. Now that was 6 years ago so I am sure a service exists that can do what you want but I am sure it is very expensive. I have some friends over at Vyvx and Wiltel than could be more helpful.

The firewire drive idea sounds much more economical, maybe not as "realtime" but sounds doable.

Studio has it...EXACTLY. That is what me and my producer are doing. And any media I import into the project, or create (slo motion via a converter) I send to him via my iDisk, and he does the same.
