Harddisk iPod 2nd generation?

My old iPod (2nd gen) works well, but has a HD of 10GB.

So I bought a 30GB HD and restored the image of the original disk on it.

This all worked well with Disk Utility.

But the new disk obviously is not recognized when put back in the iPod: it keeps cycling.

Both disks are Toshiba disks, but the original one has the Apple sign and the new one not.

So I think this is the cause. Both disks perform well as external harddisk.

Is there I workaround for non-Apple disks in an iPod?

Thanks and regards,

Noud.
