Problem capturing HDV from tape

When I open up the capture window in FCE it come up with message "Capture Preset must have a video or an audio digitizer set to capture. Please change to desired preset in the Audio/Video Settings". My camera is hooked up to my MBPro with a FireWire 400.

My laptop is the 2008 MacBook pro, running snow leopard

I am using FCE 4.01 HD

The camera is the canon HV20

As recommended by other posts I have dumped my preferences, however this has not worked.

I would greatly appreciate help

Thank you

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Make sure the camera and FCE are configured to the same format.

Example:

If the camera shoots using HDV, then select the matching HDV Easy Setup in FCE and set that as your Sequence.

When you connect the camera, FCE will be looking for an HDV camera.

In this configuration communication will occur.

Because your camera can either be set to DV or output DV from HDV through down converting in camera, it's easy to get a mis-match. In this case, No Communication, because FCE sees the camera as a DV camera.
