My macbook pro headphone jack does not work properly

I just bought a 13" mackbook pro about three weeks ago and I just recently used tried to put my headphones into the jack but I can only hear out of oneside of my headphone and not the other. At first I thought my heaphones were the problem but they work on my iphone perfectly fine. I also tried a different pair of headphones and I got the same problem. When the headphones are fully inserted into the macbook I can put a bit of pressure on the jack connected to the macbook and it will allow me to hear completely perfect but I would have to keep applying the pressure which is completely annoying. Does anyone know what I should do?

Hi i,

There is a switch inside the audio jack that may be stuck. Try gently inserting, wiggling, removing the audio plug. Otherwise, try slowly inserting the plug until you get full sound, then stop (don't push it in any further).

Are you sure you are inserting the plug all the way in?

I had the same problem with my new 15 inch MBP. The new audio jack is a little stiff at first. Once you get it in all the way then there won't be any problems...

If your Operating on OSX Lion you do not have the "Use audio port for" option. However, a restart with PRAM Zap solved the issue for me on my 17" MBP.
