This is very strange. We log into our IMAC everyday as different users and different user names and passwords. There is a new software update available, and it asked for my password again - no problem. Then the prompt other users are logged in - to shut down enter user name and PW again. I did so, and it is says not recognizable...
Makes no sense???
What am I missing?

You only need to install updates from the admin account.
Even from the Admin Account I am getting the same message, this is why I am so stumped. Any suggestions?

If you need to reset your admin password I can pass on UNIX instructions on how to do that.

The solution was that I had to log into each other user and then log-out. When the Admin was the only user it accepted the password..
Hope I wasn't imagining something, but this seemed awfully strange to me, as an Administrator should be able shut down a PC without having to log-out of each individual account..
