PowerPC applications are no longer supported by Lion?? I rely on Word, Excel, Powerpoint and MYOBr

Lion OSX 10.7 will not run my office style applications. These include Word, Excel, Powerpoint and an accounting system, MYOB.

The message "PowerPC not supported" is displayed.

This is a disaster for me as I have thousands of files created by these applications. Also I cannot even open email attachments in these formats.

I need urgent help as I am unable to work. Is there an answer or do I have to leave Lion?

Your post is a bit odd. It sounds like you have installed Lion onto a PowerPC based machine. However, this is not possible since Lion does not work with PowerPC microprocesor technology. I suspect you have a version of Microsoft Office re: 2004 that asumes you have a PowerPC. I suggest you upgrade to Microsoft Office 2011. It works fine on my MBP.

As for MYOB, I cannot suggest anything. However, here is a post dsicussing compatibility issues between Lion 10.7 and MYOB. Sounds like you have a major upgrade to make.

I am in a similar boat, have a 6 mths Imac which ran all the older software ok under Leopard, however all the Power PC software will not work at all, leaving no option but expensive software upgrades. By the way i have Microsoft Office 2008 and it still works on Lion. Myob First accounts, File Maker Pro no go at all. I understand downgrading back to leopard is probably the cheapest solution, however it will only delay the inevitable of having to upgrade eventually. If anyone finds a solution of how to run PowerPC software on Lion, many of us would be apreciative.
