Mac OX X Lion freeze after wake-up

It happens to me also and im using a macbook air, but it only freezes for 5 seconds+, its so annoying, im very upset because since it just happaned when i started using lion. Not even the update fixed the problem, please apple fix this problem, i am son dissapointed whit this update.

First time me posting here (open champagne hey) ;)

So... A little pragmatic recap from the it guy:

- after upgrading most mac platforms (iMac, MacBook etc.) OSS lion freezes after resume from sleep

- this happens with several seemingly unrelated apps on (parallels, chrome, safari, (in my case) ableton live 8.2.5 or logic, or auto map or touchable etc.etc. ) before falling asleep

- in my case: I can only revive my MacBook pro with a full emergency shut down via power button

- it has not appeared prior to lion

- happens always (reproducible)

My first conclusion would be: there is a general issue within the lion resume function tha is unrelated to other software. This should be investigated and resolved by apple ASAP!

I do not see 3rd party at stake here unless even highly apple-dev-supported 3rd parties have been misinformed by apple, implementing all the identical bug.( seems systematical)

Apple: we need pragmatic help!!!!

My (ugly) workaround until this update: switch off sleep mode totally

I'm running 10.7.1 on my mba mid-2011 i7, i even set the it to "never sleep". Should be on any ibm-pc based laptop, nothing would happen except the screen might turn to blank for energy saving, however, on my Air, after hours of idleness, it Freezessss, or in a more accurate description...it responds slowly......very slowly...lagging...indefinitly...all that i can do is power off and switch on again....

So...I guess 10.7.1 didn't fix it, and considering it's seemed to be a wide-spread issue to all running lion...no matter how the hardwares vary....i have to say if it's not a cpu or chipset bug (hardly, look at those ibm-pc laptops...), it's a lion tick~~

So Apple.......Fix it~~!

you mean, even screen sleep? i already turned off system sleep ... and it also froze as expected...after idling...for hours...

Macbook Pro 13 2.7 i7 here, and same problem.

Some details from my part:

I had set up "require password immediatelly after sleeps or screen saver begins"; and I am almost sure it is the problem.

Let me explain: I once caused the problem myself by locking the computer (clicking on my name, and then "Login window...") and staying away for a few minutes. By the time I was back: BAMMM, I had to reboot it.

Second thing: it does not matter if you allow the COMPUTER to sleep, or just the DISPLAY to sleep: you will have to reboot it. In the sencond case, thought, you can definatellly see that the light of the display is on, but there is something going on (the autentication/logon screen does not appear).

I was tracking my console, and I'm pretty sure it is not BROWSER or FLASH related.

One last thing: lets remember the new logon screen was rewritten from scratch, and the possibility of having a bug there is the biggest.

I turned off the "require password ...." and will run some tests. How about you guys, do you use this?

I have the same issue in a iMac 21" 2009.

The system seems frozen but it really is not.

Today I connected to the system "frozen" via VNC and the system works well!!! I tried to shutdown the system and gave me an error on bluetooth.

Te test would be to connect a USB keyboard and see if it works: This confirm that the problem is that the bluetooth does not wake up.

In my case I FIXED IT just by desabling the LOGIN window. It was the cause of the problem and now it is tottally solved (as long as I don't log off, or I login as soon as it boots).

This makes sence with the fact that VNC still works.

It may be a different bug because I do not have the login screen enabled.

In addition, in a Macbook Pro, the keyboard and trackpad connection is not via bluetooth (i think)

Same problem here. Lion upgrade on a 15" MBP i7 2010 version. Hangs sometimes when I open the lid to wake it up for 60 seconds or more. When it hangs, I notice that Time Machine is active and wifi is not connected. Computer always comes back to life if I just give it time. I'm guessing that Time Machine was active when I closed the lid and that Time Machine is the cause of the issue in my case.

Unfortunately I too have been a victim of the dreaded Lion OS X upgrade. On a brand new iMac i7 27inch. Had parallels running fine prior to upgrade. Mine only stays on for a few mins and then the rainbow appears when trying to open anything else. Even though I can see the curser move around but cannot click anything else.

I just had the same problem. I have a 2.2 i7 early 2011 MBP. After putting it to sleep last night, I opened the lid this morning and the login screen appeared, but I couldn't input my password at all. What's really strange was that I heard the new mail notification sound even though the computer was unresponsive, as if the computer is working but was stuck on the login screen. Nothing unusual was running, just iTunes, Safari, Mail and VLC.

This has been happening since i upgraded to Lion. Now I isolated the problem to the trackpad. If I turn off the trackpad the problem goes away. Is there somebody elsa can confirm the trackpad creates the problem?

Gave this a try, and hey it works put my Mac to sleep with trackpad off and it did not freeze on wake up, will have to see if it works after an all night sleep.

happens to me too, late 07 santa rosa 15" MBP. Hopefully something will be done, or I'll have to go back to SL.
