Q: Mac OX X Lion freeze after wake-up

Hello,

I've installed Lion for one week. Runs fine except when waking up from "sleep" mode. (NL: sluimer) I can't determine what causes this behaviour. Usually Chrome, Mail (2nd desktop) and Parallels Desktop are running.

Also I had once a freeze when the machine was unused for 15min. Activating resulted in a freeze. Button on the back used for off and on.

Please help me solving this issue.

Yep, have the same problem on my MBP 2010. Lion just freezes after wake up and I need to perform hard reset. In addition it freezes randomly at least once per day... Never had any problems on Snow Leopard. God, I wish I hadnt bought Lion...

Also having the same issue.  Sometimes the screen won't wake, sometimes the keyboard, sometimes everything wakes, but is frozen.  This is something I would expect from PC or Windows, but not Mac.  Please fix this!

I just started having this issue on my 27" iMac (late 2009) running Lion with the latest update installed.   I installed Lion the day it came out and never had any problems until a few days ago.  Now it's happening all the time.  The computer will wake from sleep but then immediately locks up.  The screen will come back on, but then there is no mouse cursor and no keyboard keys will work.  The computer is still running, but there is nothing you can do to except hold down the power button and reboot.

I'm thinking the only thing I have installed recently is an update to Logitech's mouse software, but since no one else mentioned this, I doubt that's the cause....

By the way, my computer is set to sleep the display after 10 minutes and the computer itself doesn't sleep for 1 hour.  And since this problem is happening many times less than an hour after I leave and return to my computer, I'm not sure if it's an actual "sleep" problem or not?  Just the screen is sleeping, so it sure seems like a video card/driver issue.... but who knows?

    Hello everybody.

I have the same problem. When I wake up my iMac 21" late 09, it's frozen. Nothing works: no mouse, trackpad or keyboard.

The only solution is to turn it off and on, and I don't like to do that!

    Do you have an idea?

    Thanks a lot!

    Samy

This is getting extremely frustrating. The issue is obviously more than just the browsers we use and the programs we choose to run. There is a fundamental driver problem with Lion. It's funny how a $30 download can ruin a $2000 computer. Apple, fix the freaking problem!

    Windows 7 here I come!

Well, the last update to Lion (10.7.1) fixed my issue. I haven't had a single freeze since installed last week. In the update notes Apple said they fixed some Safari-specific video-related freezes, which must have been my problem. Good luck to the rest of you.

I hope Apple will solve this soon. After the upgrade to Lion I have to shutdown my machine after freezing going out of sleep mode. Where is Apple to fix this annoying problem!!!

I am also experiencing this on my 15" MacBook Pro (2010) when waking from sleep (via opening/closing of the lid)

Am I the only one who fix this problem with turning off Time Machine? Or some one know a method to fix this without turning of Time Machine?

    Incredibly FRUSTRATING!!

    Apple, please fix this bug!

Continually, restarting my computer is not the best fix.

I will try turning off Time Machine. This will be a work around not a fix anyway. It's a good discovery to give to apple to fix the bug correctly. I need my Time Machine working as well as be able to wake-up my Mac without a hard restart.

Well, I haven't had the problem reappear again after uninstalling the Logitech Control Center mouse software!  I started getting the freezes after waking up as soon as I had updated my LCC software, but after uninstalling it, I haven't had a single freeze in days.  I can't say for sure that this is what was causing it, but it seems like more than coincidence.

Have you guys all been using FileFault2? i just decrypted my drive and the issue isn't present anymore. Took me 2 days.... doesn't Apple have professional QA's to test these things properly?

I have never had Time Machine on and I'm still having issues with wake up freezes. Apple help already!
