Q: Mac OX X Lion freeze after wake-up

Hello,

I've installed Lion for one week. Runs fine except when waking up from "sleep" mode. (NL: sluimer) I can't determine what causes this behaviour. Usually Chrome, Mail (2nd desktop) and Parallels Desktop are running.

Also I had once a freeze when the machine was unused for 15min. Activating resulted in a freeze. Button on the back used for off and on.

Please help me solving this issue.

I have a MacBook Pro mid 2011 and have a slightly different problem. The mail app opens and freezes almost every time my mac wakes up.

I have no clue as to what can cause this problem. usually, only Safari is opened when this occurs.

Ideas? Anyone with the same or similar problems?

As many point it, this problem seems caused by several applications. In the case of my iMac 21.5-inch, Time Machine seems to be responsible. But no problem on the MacBook Air and my girlfriend or my old MacBook. I install update 10.7.2 and checks if Time Machine is at fault.

I've powered down the Trackpad. Ripped the batteries from the device. Since this action no more freezes or hanging or unresponsive iMac.

The problem seems to be many issues! For me trackpad are good the problem was only there when I let Time Machine at On or when I let the "Automatic graphics switching" checked in Energy Saver of System preference

Ive tried everything everyone has posted as a resolution. Still freezes up!

The only thing that would correct this is a new computer from Apple!

Come on Apple! Ive been a Mac customer over half my life!

    Please fix the Lion!

I have exactly the same problem on my Macbook Air with 10.7.2. Terrible Apple, just terrible. Proper wake and sleep is absolutely mandatory for a laptop.

By the way... how do you quote the post you want to reply to.

I still have the exact same problem with the latest updates. The difference is still Parallels Win7. If I suspend, everything is fine, if I don't, then my deep sleep never wakes up.

I had the same problem. After coming out of sleep, a few minutes later, my iMac 27 froze. I removed batteries from trackpad, and plug back in my usb mouse, and it's stable again.. This is trackpad problem in my opinion.

Joining the group! I have the freeze issue after updating to 10.7.2, 2010 Mac Pro SSD drive. I updated the firmware for the OWC 120GB SSD (early 2011 drive), but the problem persists. I did not have this issue under Snow Leopard or Lion 10.7.1. I first had the drive in a 2006 Mac Pro 1,1 and it was freezing (10.7.2), so I moved the drive to the 2010 Mac Pro (10.7.2) and cloned the drive. I does the same thing. The 2006 Mac Pro does not freeze now since to SSD drive is out of it. I just put a new OWC 115GB SSD in a late 2008 MacBook Pro 15, so far no issues yet. Installed the drive fresh install of Lion (off usb jump drive) and latest updates. I haven't touched the Macbook since.

Update**.. After stop using trackpad, the issue still persist. So it was just a luck that it was stable for that one time. I reinstall Lion from recovery HD and is stable so far. 10 sleep, 10 wake up, and no freeze. Crossing my finger but I think the problem is gone.

I have a similar, but different issue.  When my Macbook Pro sleeps and you try to wake it, sometimes the screen stays black.  If you touch the keys, or tap the trackpad, nothing.  But if you swipe the trackpad, the where the cursor goes is followed by little squares that reveal the screen behind them.  So if you swipe around, you can reveal the space that is requesting you to choose a user and enter your password.  If you do that and click, a larger area clears and then the screen comes back.  Weird.  Ideas?

I am also having this problem with my MacBookPro 5,5.

Macbook goes to sleep -----> blank sreeen -----> wiggle mouse and screen saver lock appears -----> enter pass -----> takes me to  a frozen GUI (frozen at the point the system went to sleep)-----> requires hard reset:

No console logs and always at the start of a Time Machine backup cycle.

I recently had a hard drive crash on my Time Machine and didn't have one attached for 2 weeks. Not 1 freeze in that time. Got new USB WD drive yesterday....bang... frozen.

    This ***** Apple.
