Terminal crashes "pointer being freed was not allocated"

It may not help, but try moving the file com.apple.Terminal.plist onto the Desktop from the folder <youruserfolder>/Library/Preferences. To open your Library folder, hold down an "option" key while pulling down the Finder's "Go" menu, then select Library from the list. If that solves the problem, you can trash the moved file.

I'm having the same issue. Trying to setup my box for Ruby development. It was working at some point, but something happened while I was upgrading software and it no longer works to open a new terminal. Right now I have a couple of terminal windows open.

What were you doing when this started?

Ok, sounds like "Repair Disk Permisions" in the Disk Utility app will fix the problem:

That post was just over a year ago !!!! Hahahah I don't know however - but I'm repairing my disk permissions now !!!!

Solution:

1. Delete com.apple.terminal.plist from the ~/Library/Preference folder;
2. Open "Disk Utility" app -> Press "Repair Disk Permissions".

It will set default permissions for

usr/bin

I have this problem on El Capitan… and there's no more «Repair Permission» possible trough Disk Utility. I've tried Onyx but the process seem to freeze in the middle everytime.

Any idea someone ?
