Flash video player crashes OSX Lion

Update Flash. You can download it straight from the Adobe web site.

Same for me, I have had it twice now with my iMac. Trying to think whether both times was after resuming from sleep (I have starting using this on recent iMac).

Machine totally crashes running Safari and embedded videos. First time was not YouTube but video embedded in startup tutorial of software running first time.

Hard crash, only thing I can do is to pull out power plug and put it back.

I hate Flash/Adobe but need to use Adobe software, also wish Adobe and Apple would get over their spat.

I'm also going through similar issue. I end up hard-rebooting my system atleast twice a day after installing lion. It happens only when i click on flash videos

Dude I have had the same problem.My Mac has crashed on me about 20 times already requiring me to hard restart the computer. APPLE GET OFF OF YOUR INDIFFERENT REAR END AND FIX THIS DOG GONE PROBLEM!!!!!!! THIS IS SHAMEFUL, MY MAC IS RUNNING LIKE A WINDOWS COMPUTER. SHAMEFUL

adding my 2 cents that this has happened to me 3 times in the last hour (imac 27" g7, 8 gb ram)

Try the Adobe Flash Player 11 beta (64bit). It works for me and has worked for others. Uninstall your current player then install this one.

I did this , whilst it didn't crash immediatly it did eventually.

What I did notice was that before the crash I opened a movie in VLC and it made Safari and my twitter app shut down whilst my other open apps were unnaffected.

I must admit that this is the first time I have regretted upgrading an OS [and I've been using macs for over 25 years!!]. Apple really dropped the ball with this one. I'm not too keen on this whole download the OS rather than a dvd or usb drive start up disc as you're subject to 2 variances rather than just the one. IMO this smacks too much of a Big Brother direction.

I've read the other threads and there seem to be a lot of people getting rolling grey screen of death crashes and needing hard restarts.... the reasons are not 100% clear but it feels it's something to do with Safari/Flash/Other video apps

To all intents and purposes I cannot use my mac properly and my work is quite affected as I need to use Safari a lot. I looked into downgrading back to Snow leopard but I don't have enough free external HD space to back-up my existing new files so this is a no goer.

This fix needs to sent out yesterday!!

I got exactly the same prob, though it only seems to happen when coming from sleep mode. And like said before, it's a real shame! (iMac 27" mid 2011, i5, 12gb, running lion)

I have the same problem. Crashes when loading videos. I have to reset the computer about 5-10 times each day. Just bought a new iMac 27" about a month ago. If this goes on I have to take it back 'cause I can't work like this.

Sad to say but my computer now runs worse than any PC I have ever owned before...

as others mentioned before, its not the sollution. i've installed the flash player 11 beta as well and still experience some crashes. in fact, now it even crashes when i want to play embedded youtube vids while that was no problem for me before as far as i know.

I posted this problem elsewhere and whilst the Flash beta made it crash less it still crashed..... I found that it was my Intego [Net Barrier etc] software that was the problem. Apparently any anti-virus software you might have does not play well with Lion at all.... since I uninstalled it [it has to be done by the proper uninstaller] I've been fine.

I'm having the same problem. Updating to Flash 11 Beta did not fix it for me either. I'm running on the same system as mattsileo.
