Pages disaster - Please help!!!

I wrote 11 pages into an existing document and saved it. But it had disappeared when I opened the folder up again. Every time I write a line from the piece into 'Search' it directs me to the document - but it still isn't there! What can I do? The document was originally on Appleworks, but appeared to transfer into Pages automatically with no problem when I loaded Lion.

When the search tool find the file, note the pathname which is displayed at the bottom of the window displaying the search results.

Then navigate to the folder thru the Finder.

You may also look in the system's list of recent documents (in the Apple menu).

Dear Yvan,

Thank you for answering. I have tried to follow what you said but I couldn't find a pathname. I finished writing in the document yesterday morning, but I cannot find it and the recent documents don't go far back enough.

Can you suggest anything else? Please?!

Cher Yvan,

Thank you,

Atalanta

Hello

Go to :

http://www.devon-technologies.com/products/freeware/

and download the free EasyFind.

Unpack the archive and install the app in the folder "Applications"

Run it

ask it to search for titles of files containing all of part of the document name.

You will get this kind of window :

User uploaded file

On the right edge you will get the file's pathname.

Before doing a search, in Finder click the View menu & choose Show Path Bar. Then, after your search or any time, you can see the path where the item is. You can double-click on the icon of the contaiining folder to open that folder.

I think that you're not designating the location to save the file or forgetting to note where the file is being saved (I do that all the time!). Expand the save dialog window to make it easier to choose where to save files.
