Safari cookies options no longer exist in preferences

Since updating to Safari 5.1 I cannot access certain websites, receiving message "cookies disabled". Went to Safari > Preferences> Security, to find there are not any cookie options available.

Spoke with Apple, and they stated some web sites may not be compatible with the latest Safari update. You can send the web master of the site the complete Safari build code ie. 5.1 (6534.50) for my machine, and they should be able to confirm if their site is compatible with with Safari. Also, if you have your OSX disc that came with your machine, you can do an "optional install" from that disc, and install the version of Safai that came with the machine.

Hi.

The whole privacy section of safari preferences is blank? No "Block Cookies" choices appear? If you see somewhere (like the Security preferences) it asks your preference for blocking cookies, make sure it's not set to "Always". You should choose either "From third parties and advertisers" or "Never". The only other thing I can think of is make sure under the "Safari" tab that Private Browsing is not selected. Private Browsing is supposed to end when you close Safari, but maybe it's not working.

' may be old fashioned but I get nervous when something is trying to run the shockwave plugin when I open the Security tab my browser or trying to clean out website date with the reset function. Especially when a bunch of serious security holes (arbitrary code can be executed on the local machine) have been fixed by a recent update to these plugins.

Reading about emptied Security tabs now adds to the suspiciton, I may have caught a virus introduced through some malicious shockwave content.
