hijacked safari
Hello: My Safari has been hijacked. I am currently re-downloading Lion and plan to just re-install Lion. Will this fix my problem?

It depends. How do you know Safari was "hijacked"?
When using safari this morning all of a sudden A pop-up gave me the " your the winner of an ipad2 message"
I know better than to fall for this. Since this message was displayed, I can't stert sarfari without it coming up
again. Safari is being redirected to something other than my home page.
Safari > Preferences > General > Safari opens with: A new window
Safari > Preferences > Security > Block pop-up windows
Hi, thanks for the response. I had pop up blocking set. I just just started Safari while holding down the shift
key. I ended up at my home page as expected. Is this a permanent fix or is something else needed?
That should do it. If not, post back.
Should I continue with the Lion download and re-install it or go with the previous fix thingy?
If you want to install Lion, you can, but don't don't it just to get rid of the popup. You should do both.
The default mode for Safari in Lion (and all other apps, I guess) is to start-up with the same windows that were open when it was last quit. In your case, it sounds like this popup thing was there and Safari remembered it. The shift thingy should have finished that off. You can also quit with the option key held down to forget about the previously open windows. If all this is true, then re-installing Lion is pointless.

Thank you for your input on this. I suppose I should have known the shift key thingy, but oh well...
The Lion down load takes forever, so i'm going to take your advice and forget about re-installing Lion. I guess
I panicked when this problem started, because I have nerver had any "hijacking" problems before.
Thanks again,
Art
Well, it's brand new OS behavior. And if we're correct, there was no real hijacking involved. I think this scenario is freaking a lot of peope out.
