move photos from mac to ipad

I would like to copy pictures from my Macbook Pro to my Ipad. I have the camera connection kit, which is great if you want to go directly from the camera to the ipad. Unfortunately moving pictures from the mac book to the ipad appears to be very difficult. Been seaching on the web for an hour. Is there an easy way to do this?
