Lion OS and Remote Desktop Connection. What are my options?

Relatively new machead here (18 months). My 15" MacbookPro came loaded with Snow Leopard and it worked fine with Remote Desktop Connection (RDC).

Enter the new Lion OS........ Me not being as Tech savvy as some, figured that for $29.95 Lion would be a nice upgrade being it's the next latest and greatest offered by Apple. So I go to iTunes purchase Lion, download it to my Macbook, the download takes a serious amount of time. The next day I try to use RDC to connect to my work PC, I get a popup saying that Lion does not support PowerPC applications! I think, WHAT THE F@#$.

Now my question to you wonderful people, is there another option out there that will allow me to remotely connect with my work PC? I would rather not reinstall Snow Leopard.

MacBook Pro 15", Mac OS X (10.6.2), MacBook Pro

Remote Desktop Connection Client is a Microsoft product, so you probably should take up any issue with that in Microsoft's own forums. This forum is for questions about Apple Remote Desktop, Apple's software for managing networked Macs.

RDC works fine on my Lion system, though, so perhaps you just need a newer version of RDC. I have version 2.1.0.

I'd like to note the original poster issue was that he was getting the error message, "does not support PowerPC". He wasn't getting the error message,

"You do not have the proper encryption level to access this session.", or "To logon to this remote computer, you must have Terminal Server User Access permissions on this computer...".

i have a brand new Lion MacBook Pro and Lion iMac. RDC 2.1.1 crashes , i put in the server ip and i get this error:

Remote Desktop Connection cannot verify the identity of the computer that you want to connect to.

This problem can occur if:

• The remote computer is running a version of Windows that is earlier than Windows Vista.

• The remote computer is configured to support only the RDP security layer.

Contact your administrator, or the owner of the remote computer for assistance.

Do you want to connect anyway.

then when i do, it errors out

if i go back to 2.0.1 it works, however it will kick us out once in a while. i've redownloaded 2.1.1 and still happens that it won't even go as far as 2.0.1. Any ideas? the Windows server is pretty old. it's 2003 but it's listed under the requirements and works on listed for 2.1.1 and 2.0.1.

Hi

You said that Microsoft developed a patch to make RDC work for Lion. Where is the link?

The most current page, http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads?pid=Mactopia_RDC&fid=68346E0D-44D3-4065-9 9BB-B664B27EE1F0#viewer which hosts version, RDC_2.1.1_ALL.dmg states the following:

Note Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac (version 2.1.1) is not intended for use with Mac OS X v10.7 (Lion) or later.

Where can I find this patch you mentioned?
