Get any one of a dozen USB fax modems that are quite similar in appearance. Google search for them.
Yep! One of them is:
http://www.amazon.com/Zoom-3095-Mini-External-Modem/dp/B001FCIOSW
Alternatively you could move on to an efax service like efax.com or ringcentral.com -- both deliver your faxes to email and have their own numbers - so no second line needed.
mmmmmm.....
Do what I did... Uninstall Mac 'iOS' X Lion and put Snow Leopard back on you machine.
🙂.... 36 €.... mica male!!!!
Except that the Apple USB modem is not supported in Snow Leopard either. Apple no longer sells the modem.
no....😟
You seriously dropped Lion and went back to the older OS because your 5+ year old modem no longer is supported?
I used the old apple's modem on snow leopard!
Made by US Robotics, TrendNet, Belkin, etc. Vendors include Amazon.com, New Egg, etc.
It worked. Just not supported. Snow Leopard was released after Apple dropped the USB modem as a product.
In Lion they simply blocked the use of the modem, although it may still work. Mine is in FL so I can't test it.
No, I went back because Lion is the buggiest release apple has ever had. Mission control is retarted. I had to attempt connecting to my work vpn twice every time, just to name a few bugs I had to deal with regularly.
Snow Leopard works fine with the USB modem, and its only about 2 years old thank you. I bought it from an Apple store when I moved in July of 09.
Besides, why would you drop support for something like that? What possible purpose would you have for that? They didn't change that much in Lion, its like they did it on purpose. Stupid...
I understand that you bought it 2 years ago, but it has been around for a long time.
I totally hear about the bugs you were dealing with, I have been lucky enough not to get bit by anything that isn't a minor issue. Losing my VPN connection would drive me NUTS =)
It just sounded like you were saying that the only reason you dropped back from Lion was because of the modem. My bad.
It wasn't about dropping the support for it, I am pretty sure that the driver was 32bit and the company that produced them did not update the drivers to 64bit. I'm not 100% sure on that but I think I read it somewhere.
