iTunes can't run without QuickTime, but QuickTime won't install

Hello all,

Recently my computer got a virus, so I had a system restore done, and now I'm virus-free. Once the system restore was done though, I tried to open iTunes and a message came up asking me to uninstall and re-install iTunes, so I did. Everything seemed fine with the installation, but when I tried to open iTunes a ".dll" file was missing. This time, I called up apple support, and they sent me here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923?viewlocale=en_US Which basically told me to uninstall everything: iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Application Support, and Quicktme. Then delete everything from Program Files, which I did.

So once again, I installed iTunes, but when I opened it the message "Apple Application Support was not found" and by wandering the forums, I found a way to install Apple Application Support (By opening iTunesSetup with WinRar and separately installing it).

Now, iTunes won't open because Quicktime is missing, but everytime I try to install Quicktime the message "Installer encountered errors before the requested operations of QuickTime could be completed."

Any help would be greatly appreciated.🙂

First Download the version of QuickTime without iTunes if you haven't done so already:

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html

A couple of quick things to try: try installing QuickTime with "Run as Administrator" (An option if you right click on the installer).

Try creating a new administrator account and installing from there.

If that doesn't work, we have to try and get a better idea of what the problem is.

Look in your Problems and Solutions after a failed install and see if there are any messages with more information.

You can also look in the Event Viewer:

Give the full text of any error message that looks relevant.
