Before I change my data plan I want to be sure this works....I have purchased a Acer Iconia A500 Tablet and was wondering if using Internet Tethering on my iPhone 3GS will work. The Acer support site says you can use a smartphone if it is capable of creating a wireless hotspot.

Yes, but you need to update your phone's iOS, if your profile is correct, to see the setting for Personal Hotspot. And, of course, your carrier needs to support such.

I was able to upgrade the iOS to 4.3 and changed my data plan to support personal hotspot. I can pair the phone and tablet but not connect. Any suggestions?
