Flip video clips
Still unable to move Flip video clips to iMovie for editing. Flipshare doesn't help. Yet I remember doing this once - can anyone remind me how it's done?
iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

postscript to above: tried plugging the Flip in while iMovie activated, but no dice. Seems we used to use iTunes, but can't get the clips in there either.
With the Flip camera appearing on the Desktop can you double-click on it and find the folder on the camera with the clips inside of it? You might be able to drag the folder to the Desktop, then import from iMovie's File Menu>Import>Movies... Then you would navigate out to the Desktop and select the folder you copied off of the Flip.
this may be starting rumors. I've read it here, but haven't taken the trouble to confirm it elsewhere, that some but not all Flips (some or all of the Minos perhaps) use the avi codec within a .m4v wrapper.
If this is true the avi (a Windows format) may present special problems. This can be tested. Probably QuickTime player will open one of your files. When it's open the Inspector window will show more information about the video format. Would you let us know what you find?
Apologies if I'm wrong about this assertion,

Thanks Elikness. Shall experiment further.
Thank you Dick. Haven't noticed any .avi suffixes, but shall be on the lookout. I think I may have found a workaround anyway; your input is appreciated.
And if worse comes to worst, converting the clips to .mov using MPEG Streamclip will work too.
Thanks, elikness.Your help is appreciated.
