OS Lion Mail: Microsoft Exchange Server Rejects Password

Same Problem here since days and nobody at Apple is picking it up, even though a lot of people experiencing the same issues.

I Tried deleting all accounts (GMX, Exchange) from Mail 5.0 and create a new one (only Exchange) here: "System Pref". -> "Mail, Contacs & Calendars". Account creation worked, but Mail keeps asking me for the password telling me the server rejected the pw, which is correct (as it worked with the account creation).

To be honest I'm a little disappointed, having switched from PC to Mac earlier this year and never ran into problems with a PC that took me longer than a day to fix (especially on productive systems!), i start to regret buying a mac...

is it hotmail? If your hotmail account has more than 11 characters, change it and try it. The new password must have less than 11 characters.

No it's the business account from my company and it has 12 characters, don't know if I can change it but will try. The password however has less than 12 chars....

Funny thing is i created a Mail account via Mail and suddenly it started receiving messages from today, but all my old messages are gone (even though they still have to be on the company server)

BTW my company is using an exchagne provider...

I have the same problem.. it's really annoying. I feel that the money I spent for the lion upgrde wasn't well spent.

I'll think it twice next time before buying an upgrade.

Well I downgraded to Snow Leopard (after formatting my sdd) and everything is working jut fine now!

If You're running a productive system, DO NOT upgrade to Lion prior to the x.2 update, it'll cost You valuable time that could have been spent actually working...

Two thumbs down, apple for your QA and micorsoft-esque issues!

What version of Exchange does your employer use?

How can I find out? any automatic way?

Ask your IT dept, if it's 2003 you have problems, 2007 and 2010 work fine (as do SBS 2008 and 2011)

Hard to advise as there are significant changes after 2003 but many businesses are still using this old piece of software.

Do you have web access? if so and the url ends in /exchange it is 2003, if the url ends /owa then it's 2007 or 2010

That's strange, my company is using exchange 2007 and I still cannot setup my account in Lion...

I'm pretty sure that the old 2003 version is what we have.

Mac Mail is not compatible with Exchange 2003, neither is Outlook 2011, only Entourage 2008 (non EWS version) will work in your setup.

I wonder why they deliver new releases, if they remove functionalities, it was all working fine with the previous version, and now I can't read my company's email any more on my computer.

This is ridiculous, already HTC has lost a client when they gave me a similar answer on connecting my android phone to my mac, now apple tells me I can't use my mac with my email. I probably made a mistake in buying a mac at all. Ubuntu and Windows seem to work a lot better, and to cost a lot less.

I'm really unsatisfied now, thanks for your answers.

Exchange 2003 is very old, Microsoft have announced that support for it is ending (and don't even support it themselves in the latest version of Outlook for Mac)

You can update your Exchange Server, install Office 2008 or change to a different platform.
