iMovie problem since downloading Lion!

Has anyone else encountered problems in iMovie since installing Lion? I frequently edit videos on iMovie shot with my Canon 7D. Ever since installing Lion yesterday, I have been getting these weird distorted lines in my videos, both old and new. It's happening even in videos that were shot a month ago and were working fine back then. So obviously it's a problem AFTER installing Lion. Now I'm considering if I should wipe my HD and go back to Snow Leopard...

Here's an example

The file is perfectly fine if I read it straight off the card. It's also fine if I do not process it in iMovie and watch it in QT.

As I said, it's also happening to old files in iMovie that were perfectly fine before. Now, these lines are appearing in my iMovie videos (if I watch them from iMovie. from months ago. This current clip is a processed video that has been exported.

You can check out the video here...and I seriously hate those lines

Hi!

Sorry my poor english first.

I have a similar isue in imovie since I updated to lion, but only on the preview window. when I export the video it plays correct, with no artifacts, but on the preview window is like in the above screenshot.

I tried reinstalling lion, and imovie as well, but i have the same problem.

Anyone knows how to solve it, is quite annonying!

I called apple support and the agent didn't know how to help me. We tried deleting all iMovie cache files and uninstall and reinstall. Then he transferred me to his supervisor. We worked on it for awhile and tried partitioning a part of the computer to try a clean reinstall of Lion. This seemed to work.

I ended up wiping entire HD and then reinstalling Lion. Thought it worked at first, but then the glitches reappeared once i transferred stuff back onto my comp.

Then, finally couldn't take it anymore and I wiped hard drive again, and "upgraded" to Snow Leopard. Now things are running smoothly and iMovie seems to work without glitches now.

I have EXACLTY the same problem of the first post (tromba25).
I have a MacBook Pro, upgraded to Lion from App Store (also iMovie has been bought from App Store).

I've the same problem but with a different camera (Sony HDR-CX130e). Tried on iMac with Lion and iMovie 11 and it works perfectly. So I think is a graphic card + Lion issue.

Now I'm downgrading to Snow Leopard.

Like Emanuele-C, I also think it is a graphic card+ Lion issue that occurs when you move to Lion from a previous generation Mac. I'm using a i5 MBP 15" from last year, but had this problem. I called apple support and they couldn't really help either, and told me no one had reported the problem to them prior. After trying several things, I wiped the entire hard drive and reinstalled Lion, but it didn't help.

In the end I just wiped hard drive again and went back to trusty Snow Leopard. Then it was okay. Perhaps you can give apple support a call just so they know more ppl have this problem, and see if anything has been solved with the 10.7.1 patch

I have exactly the same issue. I called the support number, and we tried many things. The support person even sent me an updated I-Life disc to see if it helped. It did not. Today I went to the Apple Store, and the technician found your complaint on line. It is identical to what I have on my computer. The 'lightning' bolt that shows on the screen also is burned to disc if you load the i-Movie file to I-DVD. The tech told me that there was nothing I could do but wait until a software fix is developed.

Apple please hurry with a fix. I do not like feeling like I was a 'guenypig' on the new operating system.
