Im having the same issue, not only on my iphone 4 but also my macbook pro.....

  • ronnyinparis Level 1 Level 1 (0 points) problems have only been with my MAC pro and yahoo...the iPhone works great with yahoo.  bizaare I know.  Went to Apple's Genius Bar and they tinkered with some things in terms of the cache....but in the end, it did not make any difference.  I still get the spinning wheel whenever I try to do something on yahoo mail with Safari and am forced to shut it down.

As they had no answers, think my only solution is to continue to work my yahoo mail via my Firefox browser...but this will now mean that I will stop using Safari all together and transfer all of my bookmarks, favorites to Firefox.

too bad as I had been a big fan of anything/everything apple (i.e. safari)...but these problems with yahoo mail are too time the meantime, also slowly but surely taking my yahoo contacts to gmail....but that is a shame considering I have had this yahoo address since the birth of the internet.

Has nobody got a fix for this yet i'm going to have to change everything to gmail which i don't want to do because so many people have got my yahoo address in their adress book.

There is no "fix". The problem is with Yahoo.

Well. My yahoo mail got back around Monday morning (US time). I had turn off my yahoo mail (just disable it in the setting) over the weekend when i didn't see any progress to save battery. It was draining the battery awefully fast.

As others have said, the problem is probably with Yahoo, and why it affect different user differently? And same user with different devicess differently too? On my wifi ipad Yahoo mail worked perfectly. still get push email (via wifi) but iPhone on cellular AND wifi won't.

I guess another mystery of technologies.

All my folders are updated except inbox which says it is trying to retreive.  Does correctly l

Know how many emails there are and can compose, send email.  Other devices work ok for yahoo.mail and I can access email by going thru safari/yahoo and get updated inbox.  Must be yahoo problem but difficult to get through to them

I'm having your exact problem with Yahoo Mail in up to date Safari on my iMac running up to date Snow Leopard. I get the beach ball when doing almost anything in Yahoo Mail. I have to quit Safari. Interestingly, I can indeed do a simple "quit", not the "force quit" which one might think would be necessary (and sometimes is) in many similar beach balling situations.

Yahoo Mail works perfectly on my iPhone 4 and on my iMac using up to date Firefox.

What the heck's going on all of a sudden with Safari and Yahoo Mail?

Downloaded and installed Google Chrome Browser. Now,no problem with Yahoo. There is presently a conflict with

Safari and new Yahoo mail app.Try Chrome, import, and then try mail. No beachballing.

I have exact same problem, I just spoke to Yahoo on the phone and they said its not their problem its the phone providers. but so many people have this problem it must be them??

  • KiltedTim Level 8 Level 8 (45,550 points)

It's them. That's a typical pass the buck answer from a minimum wage paid support droid who's probably located on a small, uncivilized island somewhere.

Well. went back to the Apple store today and they had the same problem on their Macs instore....not able to function with yahoo mail - just the beach I have gone ahead and exported all of my Safari bookmarks into Firefox..because with that browser, as well as with my iPhone 4...I am having no problems with yahoo...only with my MAC.

As this has been going on for nearly 2 months, what I do not understand is why Safari/Apple and Yahoo don't huddle to fix this problem.  Are any top level Apple exex monitoring this thread?

If so...please kick it up the ladder.

    Hi all,

I got the same problem : Inbox being upgraded, showing XXX new messages to be downloaded and finally, showing "updated" with only my old messages.

I transferred thel messagesnot yet downloaded with the ones already showing on my Iphone until 1 week before, from my Inbox to an alternative Inbox through computer. My Iphone then sync with Yahoo properly, showing the same status of InBox.

Then, 1 by 1, I redirected messages from the alternative Inbox to the real one and checke dthat Iphone was always showing the same status. Until I found THE message that was blocking my Iphone from downloaded the ones after.

I erased it and now, my Iphone and Yahoo are always synced.

I suggest your try this way to fix it.

Hello everyone. Jut saw this post after I submitted my own thread on same issue.

Funny thing is that I own two yahoo mail accounts and the most important account is the one with problems the other seems fine.

Why would one e-mail cause so much problems with the account?

Has anyone figured out this Yahoo Mail/Safari issue???  I was on the phone with Apple support for about an hour and a half last week but they were stumped.  I've been having the same problem others are describing above - Yahoo Mail works intermittently on my iMac and MacBook Pro.  But it works totally fine on Firefox.  It's very annoying!  Has anyone seen the same problem once they've upgraded to Lion?  It seems like a lot of folks are having this problem so maybe there will be a fix with the next Safari update???  Anyone know when that will be?  I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
