Had same problem. would set up yahoo e-mail account ok, and then when it went to downlaod it hung at "Checking For Mail"

Still kept thae yahoo account loaded in the phone then on the iphone4 went
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Once i went through this, the problem was solved and the e-mails came flying in.
I am still having the same problem. I did all the troubleshooting that I could. I even loaded up my yahoo email account onto my son's iPod Touch 4. Same problem. His (and my wife's) yahoo mail are working fine. It has to be an issue with yahoo's servers or something. What the heck is going on?

Well, I got a response from yahoo. I followed the steps and unfortunately,
my yahoo mail still does not work on my iPhone

My problem is just the opposite. I get yahoo mail easily on my iPhone, but have had problems the last couple of days getting it on my computer, Safari version 5.1.
it comes through, but then when I start to try to do anything, I get the spinning rainbow wheel which goes on forever..so I must force quit Safari and restart, only to have the same problem.
I cannot see on the new yahoo page where to change to "classic mail."
I have not yet tried any of the setting adjustments.
Having the same issue with Safari 5.1 on my MacBook Pro; OSX 10.6.8. It happened when I upgraded Safari. Yahoo mail worked before that and still works with Firefox 3.6.13. I have deleted the Yahoo cookies (several times) via Safari preferences with varying degress of success -- once being able to read my mail, and once deleting some mail but not able to open any -- but the next time I go to access Yahoo mail without deleting cookies, I get the spinning wheel of frustration. It appears there is some incompatibility with Safari 5.1 and I have yet to find a solution.
Same thing here and I can attest to the fact that restoring your device more than likely WON'T work. I see others have tried it and it didn't help. I had the problem on my iPad 1, bought an iPad 2 yesterday, and the same thing happened. It was doing it on my iPhone, but then started working (gosh, good thing I could get my email SOMEWHERE). Now my iPad is working and my iPhone is not. Ugh - hopefully Yahoo gets things together.

Well I went to the Apple Store (in Paris) last week and the guys there were baffled by the problem..they also could not understand why I could not get my email through Apple's email program...think to do this I need to upgrade to Yahoo premium which I will not do...but apparently, they believed that yahoo france does not require such an upgrade to use via the Mac Pro mail program.
Anyway, have made an appointment at the Genuis Bar for Tuesday to see if one of their technicians can figure this yahoo email problem out. (by the way, right now it is working, but the problem seems to be intermittent).
Will report what I find following next Tuesday's meeting.
